Beach House Rental FAQs

1) Can I bring my pet?
Yes, we believe your pets should have a vacation at the beach, too! Because of extra cleaning and flea spraying we do charge an extra $50.00 non refundable pet fee. We limit the number of pets to 2. Please call 832-236-5227 to discuss.

2) What's the weather like?
We have a saying here in Texas, it goes "If you want to know what the weathers' like in Texas, stick around it'll change". We can only say approximately what the season holds. You can also go to weather.com for a complete report.

3) Can I fish?
Yes! There is great fishing in the area.

4) What do I need to bring?
The beach house is completely furnished, the kitchen is entirely stocked with all the cookware and dishes you'll need for meals. The only other things you'll need are- sunscreen, food, linens (sheets and towels), water (they suggest you don't drink the water from the faucets) and charcoal for the grill. (Recipes provided for BBQue, boiled crawfish and grilled corn on the cob.)

5) What if there is a hurricane?
If the area falls under a mandatory evacuation or the owners feel that boarding up the property is best, you will be reimbursed for the remaining days you have paid for. The security deposit will be sent as per the lease agreement. Although we apologize if you have inclement weather during your stay, this is not a reason for reimbursement.

6) How do I get there?

From Houston:

Take I - 45 south to Galveston, exit Harborside Drive. Take a left under the freeway and follow Harborside until it dead ends into Ferry Rd. Make a left and get in the Bolivar Ferry line on the left side of the street. Once you cross over the channel, you will be on Hwy. 87. Follow this for about 20 miles to Beaumont St., Gilchrist, TX 77617. Take a right and the house is the 2nd on the left. Parking is under the carport and on the street. You can also park at the end of the street facing the beach. (2 cars only at the end of the street please). There is also a Beaumont St. in Crystal Beach. It is only about 8 miles down Hwy. 87. This is not the street Shangri La Beach House is on. Keep going.

From Beaumont:

Take I -10 west to Winnie, then head south on Highway 124 until you come to Highway 87. Turn right, go about 5 miles to Beaumont St. Gilchrist, TX 77617. Turn left and it is the second house on the left. Parking is under the carport, on the street and at the end of the street facing the beach (2 cars only at the end of the street please).
